Here at Chiltern Archery we offer the best Limb Exchange Programme nationwide. As the pioneers of the scheme, we have been running our programme since the 90’s!

The aim of the programme is twofold; to be more sustainable, and to help our customers with their shooting development.

Firstly the scheme contributes to our recycling and sustainability efforts, ensuring that limbs get their full use, instead of being binned or forgotten about when archers progress their poundage.

And secondly the scheme allows our customers to progress the poundage they are shooting on progressively, without incurring additional costs when doing so. When you first start shooting we match you to some light limbs, to allow you to develop your technique for the early stages of shooting. This is also how we work to prevent injuries occurring from poor technique, when shooting with too much power.

By allowing you to swap your limbs free of charge, you can then change to a different size or weight of limb to better match your needs at that time, allowing you to build your strength and bow power as you go. We allow you to swap your limbs free of charge up to 5 times provided you do them within 6 months of the previous exchange, in theory giving you up to 3 years of weight-appropriate limbs without having yet bought a second pair.

Usually, after 4/5/6 limb exchanges, you will have been shooting long enough to know which poundage of limb you would like to shoot on longer term. At that stage we then encourage you to consider improving the quality of your limb, to reduce the vibration produced at the moment of shooting, and therefore help our shooting consistency.

The Limb Exchange Programme is complimentary to anyone buying their first bow with us. Alternatively, there is a £30 buy-in fee when buying a pair of ILF basic wood limbs with us if you have sourced the rest of your kit elsewhere.

As the limbs have a 2 year warranty period from the manufacturers, we ensure all of the limbs on the programme remain in good condition, and are removed from the programme when they are out of warranty, to ensure everyone gets safe limbs to shoot.
